I can't wait to get on the road again...
Goin' places that I've never been.Seein' things that I may never see again
And I can't wait to get on the road again.
On the road again -
Like gypsies we go down the highway
We're the best of friends
Insisting that the world keep turning our way...
On the road again...
"In the Grand Canyon, Arizona has a natural wonder which is in kind absolutely unparalleled throughout the rest of the world. I want to ask you to keep this great wonder of nature as it now is. I hope you will not have a building of any kind, not a summer cottage, a hotel or anything else, to mar the wonderful grandeur, the sublimity, the great loneliness and beauty of the canyon. Leave it as it is. You cannot improve on it. The ages have been at work on it, and man can only mar it."
- Theodor Roosevelt (1858-1919)
Thank you!

Wow! What an amazing trip...I've never been there - thanks for taking me along! :) The Grand Canyon is still on my list.
ReplyDeleteThese photos are wonderful and I love the one of you sitting in the middle of the highway.
Sylvia!!!!!! LOOK AT WHERE YOU'VE BEEN! And your pictures are as magical as always! I spot my favorite animals here....horses! What a totally different life this would be to live, in hot, dry almost silent land. With such open space, I would imagine all you hear are the sounds of animals, occasional cars and people, and your own mind thinking. How wonderful that you had a chance to travel!
ReplyDeleteThank you my friend, for coming to visit me. We had a beautiful summer, staying home with the exception of me going to California earlier this June. School starts in three weeks for me and I'm ready to go back. Sending you a warm hug of affection and wishes for a great transition into fall! It just can't be coming that quickly!!!

Gorgeous shots! I hope you enjoyed our hot temps here and had fun in my city (Vegas)...I think I was enjoying cooler temps in Ontario while you were here! Do you know I have been here for 9 years and still need to get to the Grand Canyon. Your pictures are making me want to make it happen
ReplyDeleteSigh. These are so stunning. We just got back from a road trip ourselves, although I've yet to have a trip in the car that is *quite* like the romantic notion described in those beginning lyrics.
ReplyDeleteMaybe I just need to get me to Arizona :)

ReplyDeleteI was born and raised in Arizona, singing that song on every road trip.
Even funnier is that I quoted it the other day in an email to my sister who was on her own road trip.
I've never been, hopefully some day. thanks for the "just amazing" photos!!!
ReplyDeleteThere is certainly something about a road trip - we are going on one soon through Australia's "outback". I feel that you have taken us to the heart of the American "wild west" through your images. I have never been to the USA or the Grand Canyon, so thankyou for taking us on this road trip with us.
ReplyDeleteI am joining you through "Oh the Places I've Been". Happy travels.
What an adventure, but my fav shot is you sitting on the yellow line in the road :)

How I love that white horse and his eye....oh how I LOVE HIM! (Ask Irina, she'll tell you how much of an equine-lover I am!)
ReplyDeleteGentle Sylvia, thank you my friend for coming to visit. My post is simple, but we both know the power of pith, the strength of simplicity. Have a most GORGEOUS day filled with the things that matter the most to YOU! Anita
Hi sweet friend!
ReplyDeleteMy little family visited the Grand Canyon for the
first time in March of 2012. You've done such a
beautiful job of capturing its glory. We spent afternoon,
evening and dawn there, the next morning, and it
was such a thrill to see how it changed with the
different light. Yes, Mr. Roosevelt had it exactly
right, I'd say!!!
I bet it was a great bonding experience for you
and your men : ) and that you had a lot of adventures
and laughs along the way.
Hope all is well in your world. In addition to the
departure of my girl for college, I've had a huge
sadness regarding one of my best friends. When
I wrap the two together, it's a bit of a struggle to
stay positive. Although, I just spoke with Elizabeth
and she's LOVING her university experience, so
far, which makes it a little easier.
Thanks for the beauty that you add to my life,
Sylvia, not just through your lens, but from your
heart.
Love & Hugs,
xo Suzanne
Wow, what a beautiful state! It's all just amazing to look at. You must have had a wonderful trip there. I love the quote by Roosevelt at the end. Thank you for sharing. Pamela
