"A fine landscape is like a piece of music;it must be taken at the right tempo...Even a bicycle goes too fast "
Paul Scott Mower
A wise man once said " no city should be too large for a man to walk out in the morning ", so here we are , immersing in the simple beauty of the big city ,
creating the perfect average day .
Sometimes I forget that BEAUTY is all around me ...
Other times I go so fast that not only the scenery I miss , but
the sense of where I am going and why I am going ...
Sometimes I feel like there is no air to breathe ,
being surrounded by concrete , glass , and clutter...
but then I remember ,
I simply have to open my eyes and SEE
Color and Beauty flourishes everywhere...
in the heart of the mega city ...
the old Don Valley Brick Works factory |
as long as my heart is open...
"It's hard to stay mad, when there's so much beauty in the world. Sometimes I feel like I'm seeing it all at once, and it's too much, my heart fills up like a balloon that's about to burst... And then I remember to relax, and stop trying to hold on to it, and then it flows through me like rain and I can't feel anything but gratitude for every single moment of my stupid little life...
"American Beauty" ( the movie )
I wish you Happiness !
Thank you !

Your photographs are simply wonderful Sylvia. I too was in a city at the weekend (I normally live in a village) I found the density and lack of green living things a bit overwhelming, but all around were snatches of beauty, an old building, the face of a child. The kindness and patience of a shopkeeper.
ReplyDeleteWouldn't it be marvellous to be able to remove the ugly and leave the beauty behind now that would be somewhere to live.
Sylvia, YOU ARE BACK DEAREST! So good to see you! I enjoy your photos and view on simplicity. I rejoice in it as much as I used to rejoice in clutter and opulence, although those things have their place, but no longer in my home or world...getting older means getting less complicated for me....have A LOVELY WEEK! Anita
ReplyDeleteThese are amazingly beautiful photos, Sylvia! It's wonderful to see all the beauty you have captured. The quotes are perfect, too...especially the one from American Beauty.
ReplyDeleteXO,

ReplyDeleteSylvia, your photos and sentiments are beautiful. I feel the same way in the big city. I know there is still beauty to be seen everywhere....but I do so love the open spaces and peacefulness too.
ReplyDeleteViewing your post is like being out in the country!
Hugs,
Terri
beautiful photos! There is beauty everywhere if we stop and look hard enough...but not too hard...sometimes we have to squint a bit and turn our head sideways but it's there.
