Just like that, the summer has once again slipped through my fingers – fast, too soon, as it always does...
Like the ice cubes in my drink, it has melted almost invisible, leaving me thirsty for more. I am not ready to see summer shut down yet, despite my love for autumn.
I still feel that sensation of the soft beach sand under my bare feet, and the sun lightly kissing my skin. The unframed sky is wrapping its long blue arms around the calm sea; time is passing slowly as the sailing ship in the distance. The water is gently changing colours from shimmering gray-blue to sparkling turquoise or deep green.
As I stay on the beach, in the warm sweetness of the late summer afternoon, I am losing touch with the world...
I am immersing myself into the softness of this moment, indulging in the taste of salty water, breathing in the pungent smell of seaweed...
A glimpse of infinity makes me feel like a tiny spot in a masterly painted summer landscape.

My lungs are filled with summer.
My heart is bursting with memories, one of the best ever summer memories – special and deeply cherished...

I love your ode to summer. It's been a beautiful one for me as well. Autumn will bring its own beauty with it.
ReplyDeleteGood morning dear Sylvia! Yes, just like THAT, it's gone. I'm back in the classroom teaching, driving far to school early in the morning, enjoying a pink sunset. I miss the summer when I was starting to play with my camera, and getting good results.
ReplyDeleteBut now, it's time for another sort of recreation of the mind. It sure is great to see your summer here, so textured and muted in colors of this past summer. MUCH LOVE! Anita
Your blog is more than beautiful. It is a treasure to keep for autumnal rains.
ReplyDeleteI am holding on to summer as well Sylvia. It's still bright and warm in The Netherlands. Next week promises to be good too!
ReplyDeleteHappy week!

How wonderful to be the recipient of the magazine giveaway! Thank you so much Sylvia! And thank you for the lovely compliment. I am looking forward to enjoying a beautiful issue all the more because your wonderful photos are included in it. I am holding onto summer until the very last hour. Fortunately September is one of the loveliest months of the year in New Mexico. But your beautiful beach shots make me long for a visit to the sea!
ReplyDeleteYour words make me so wistful Sylvia. How I wish I could be standing on this beautiful beach with my feet sinking into the sand and drinking in the salt air. Your photos are truly breathtaking my dear.
ReplyDeleteI too, am hanging tightly to summer. I always have a hard time letting it go. But I keep telling myself that magic can happen in any season.
sending hugs...
OH MY, Sylvia! Your photos in your "Life is an adventure" post truly captured the essence of AUTUMN!! How exquisite ! THANK YOU for sharing each one!
ReplyDeleteJoyfully....~Sandie
Sylvia! Good evening!
ReplyDeleteHow have you been? I am sure you are as busy as us teachers, being a mother and getting your children off to school and other activities! All is well here. We are very busy with new school schedules, but I long for weekends so I can write and take more photos! Thank you so much for visiting tonight; it means a lot to me to see old blogger friends come by.
Wishing you a truly sweet September, and autumn! It's not quite cool here yet, but it's very colourful! Anita
Dear Sylvia, I was so happy to see that you came by. I've missed you.
ReplyDeleteIt's been awhile since I've come by . . . and I've missed seeing your breath-taking photography and reading your peaceful thoughts.
When I visit, it's as though I'm taken a break from the real world for a few moments . . . and I love it.
I, like most people, get lost in your posts.
I'm looking forward to your Autumn photos/thoughts.
Hoping that you're having a wonderful start to the Fall season.
Sending happy thoughts,
Suzanne
