New year
New day
New snow
Perhaps new Me...
With each footstep on the ground covered by a white powdery blanket, I feel how perfect the new day is – fresh, bright, clean, quiet and tender! It seems like mother earth sends some snow to teach me that life is short... just like the snow. Eventually, these beautiful flakes, falling gently through the air, will soon return to their original forms. They will fill creeks, lakes, and rivers to continue the cycle... There is wisdom behind each snowflake uniqueness. Every one of us is different, but an inseparable part of a whole. Snow gathers when individual flakes land on the ground, merge with one another and come to be "one" snow. If I paraphrase the story of the wave and the ocean, it would sound like "... you are not a snowflake, you are part of the snow." I believe that a single person owes as much to his own well-being as he owes to the world of which he is a part of. So, on this new January day, I wish everyone of us is happy, full and healthy.
While walking in the snow, I am sensing nature's hug, I am feeling the human hope. It brings me comfort and exhilaration. It makes me slow down, pause and observe. I don't want to take snow for granted. I remember on one of my trips to Cuba a young man asked me ''What does snow feel like?", because he has never experienced winter and he has been dreaming of it ...This year I don't want to take anything in my life, either good or bad, for granted. I want to learn to accept what each new day has to offer with far less resistance and to "have patience with everything unresolved in my heart." This year, I want to use my present moment fully as I revel in the abundant joy and kindness of it. I would want nothing more than what's in the moment. If there is a pain, experience the pain. If there is a disappointment, let it go. If there is a new plan, follow it with passion. If there is snow, embrace it... and make a snow angel.

"True happiness is to enjoy the present, without anxious dependence upon the future, not to amuse ourselves with either hopes or fears but to rest satisfied with what we have, which is sufficient, for he that is so wants nothing. The greatest blessing of mankind are within us and within our reach. A wise man is content with his lot, whatever it may be, without wishing for what he has not."  ~ Seneca

It's 2013
And even though, I don't believe in numbers, I know 13 is my lucky one; besides, I am born on the 13th. I know this year will be better than the last. I know, this year will be mine ... for I am slowly learning to know how to live my present moments, how to not miss out on life, how not to be afraid of failure, how to love everybody... and how to embrace the snow...

Wishing all of you love and wisdom to truly enjoy each day of your bright new 2013!
